From the beginning, the Denver Press Club has been a place to meet interesting people and take stock of the marketplace of ideas.

The preamble to our 1905 bylaws stated that part of our mission is to attract visiting authors and journalists and contribute to the intellectual stimulation of the community.

Through the years, the club has lived up to that mission. We’ve hosted artists, writers and political figures ranging from Ginger Rogers to Carl Sandberg, Arnold Toynbee to Woodrow Wilson.

In 1990, the club began what became known as the Lunch on Deadline and Book Beat series, a regular series of events featuring well-known authors, journalists and newsmakers.

No wonder then that Westword once named the Press Club, “Best Place to Learn Something on Your Lunch Hour,” in one of its Best of Denver editions.

Our Book Beat and Lunch on Deadline events enable attendees to get to know the guest in a more informal setting than usual, to ask questions directly, and, if a Book Beat, to have the author sign their book for you.
