8/17/08
Dear Members,
Friday night is going to be huge (sorry for channeling Donald Trump) at the Denver Press Club, with the annual Clambake, the opening of a 1908 photo exhibit themed to the Democratic National Convention, and the honoring of Jim Sheeler and Todd Heisler as we add another duplicate of the Pulitzer Prize to the club's walls in the Pulitzer Lounge.

Please make your Clambake reservations by noon Wednesday (see listing below, with the blacktie-colorado.com listing). Please DO NOT WAIT UNTIL THE LAST MINUTE, and note that we won't be able to accept walk-ins. In order to properly plan and to ensure that we prepare enough food, it is imperative that we have all reservations in hand by noon Wednesday. Thank you.

    Other notes:
Several new listings are below, all related to the DNC. One talks about watching Sen. Barack Obama's acceptance speech at the club on a special large-screen HD TV that will be on loan to us.

We are selling great logoed items for the DNC: polo shirts (about one-third already have been sold), coffee cups and pens. They have a double inscription, "Democratic National Convention 2008" and "Denver Press Club." Come get your collectors' items at the club, or place an order with club manager Carmen Green at 303-571-5260.

We'll also be selling these items during the half-dozen or so convention-related events that will be held at the club during the week of August 25, so don't get shut out.

Thanks
Bruce Goldberg
President, Board of Directors
Denver Press Club
