Denver Press Club Gridiron Show October 21, 2011

Friday, Oct. 21, 7 p.m., Gov. John Hickenlooper and Denver Mayor Michael Hancock will be part of the Denver Press Club Gridiron Show at the L2 Art and Culture Center, 1477 Columbine Street (Colfax and Columbine, opposite East High School).

Come to Denver's funniest political satire event. Featuring a veteran cast plus some big names from politics and media, the Gridiron Show promises a hilarious evening of political and social satire -- and all for only $20.00. Yes, we have changed to a show-only model, which enables us to greatly lower the cost from previous years.

Doors open at 6 p.m. and the show will begin at 7 p.m. Please sign up at this link (Blacktie-Colorado).

The core cast includes Mike Landess (anchor, KMGH-TV), Bruce Goldberg (Denver Business Journal), Ruth Darling-Goldberg, Edie Sonn, Cynthia Hessin (Rocky Mountain PBS), Rosemary Rodriguez (from the staff of Sen. Michael Bennet and former Denver City Council president), Stephen Koenigsberg, Tom Corona, Adam Goldstein (Aurora Daily Sentinel), Karen Kataline, violinist extraordinaire Julia Hays, and master of ceremonies Fred Brown, longtime Statehouse reporter for The Denver Post. Once again, Fred will recite some of his own humorous haikus.

Our guest introducers include Mayor Hancock, Sen. Michael Bennet, CBS4 news anchor Jim Benemann, 9News' anchor/reporter TaRhonda Thomas, 9News investigative reporter Deborah Sherman and state Sen. Shawn Mitchell.

Our satirical targets this year include Gov. Hickenlooper, the Wisconsin governor vs. the unions, Michelle Bachman, former Congressman Anthony Wiener, President Obama, out-of-control spending, bad home loans, the weakened state of the media, Denver Sugar girls, Initiative 300 (paid sick leave), anti-science idiocy, Tom Martino and medical marijuana.

You can park in the East High School parking lot and in the Maaco lot near L2, among other places. The club will operate a bar in the L2 lobby this evening, and L2 will sell soft drinks, tea, hot chocolate, candy, cookies and other snacks.

We hope you'll join us for a "No Sacred Cows" show of fun and entertainment.
