Thanks to those of you who responded to the last-chance membership-renewal notices and paid their dues.
Still, we haven't heard back from others, and have set this Tuesday (June 15) as the final deadline before we must remove names from the membership list. We hope you'll be convinced to rejoin by the hard work of the past few years that has made the nation's oldest press club financially stable, by the many activities the club promotes and by the renovations performed in the past couple of years, which have greatly improved the club's appeal.
If you want to renew, either call club manager Carmen Green (303-571-5260) with a credit card number, or bring a check to the club Monday or Tuesday (just push them through the front door mail slot). Thank you.
OTHER DPC Notes:
(1) The club mourns the passing of member Bob Wurmstedt, who died June 1. You may remember Bob as the former director of communications for the Center for the New West and for his Peace Corps stint in Kenya from 2003 until 2007.
(2) The Denver Art Museum offers discounted tickets to DPC members for the King Tut exhibit (June 29, 2010 to Jan. 9, 2011) and to the Central City Opera. Details: a. KING TUT: $4 off; buy the tickets at www.ticketmaster.com/tutfriends. More info: 1-877-5GO2TUT (546-2888). b. CENTRAL CITY OPERA: 15% off under the Friends and Family Discount. To obtain the discount, mention "Friends" when you call the box office, 303-292-6700, or on the website www.centralcityopera.org; when prompted to enter a code, just type in "Friends."
(3) Welcome to new members Lee Boughey, Meagan Dorsch and Andy Boian.
(4) The club is accepting donations of books, CDs and videos for the next book sale (date to be determined). One note: For books, we can accept only ones that are in good shape, and we can't accept textbooks, magazines, computer books or encyclopedias. To arrange a pickup, call Dan Danbom at 303-722-1846.
