We've got a great Book Beat event lined up for Tuesday evening, with Matt Moseley talking about his Hunter Thompson book that covers the Lisl Auman situation (see full listing below under June 22). This event is free and open to all; hope to see you there.

OTHER DPC Notes:

(1) The Denver Art Museum offers discounted tickets to DPC members for the King Tut exhibit (June 29, 2010 to Jan. 9, 2011) and to the Central City Opera. Details:

a. KING TUT: $4 off; buy the tickets at www.ticketmaster.com/tutfriends. More info: 1-877-5GO2TUT (546-2888).

b. CENTRAL CITY OPERA: 15% off under the Friends and Family Discount. To obtain the discount, mention "Friends" when you call the box office, 303-292-6700, or on the website www.centralcityopera.org; when prompted to enter a code, just type in "Friends." The operas are "Madama Butterfly," "Orpheus in the Underworld" and "Three Decembers." The 2010 festival runs from June 26 to August 8.

(3) The club is accepting donations of books, CDs and videos for the next book sale (date to be determined). Buffet dinner meal choices this week:

  • Wednesday, June 23, Burger Night, including choices of salmon burgers and veggie burgers, with homemade fries, $6.00.
  • Thursday, June 24, Cheese-stuffed chicken drumsticks, roasted potatoes, mixed vegetables, $10.00.
  • Friday, June 25, Garden-fresh Swiss chard and greens with bacon, beans and chicken broth, served with mini pasta shells, tossed salad, rolls and butter. Carmen and Mary grew the Swiss chard and greens in a community garden, so you'll be eating truly fresh stuff. $10.00.
